US Open WTA Qualifiers: Ponchet Eliminated, Gracheva Sole Survivor
This Thursday, four French players were in contention in the second round of the US Open qualifiers. Seeded number 6, Varvara Gracheva defeated Tara Wuerth with a score of 7-5, 6-2.
The French player will face Ena Shibahara for a spot in the main draw. As for Jessika Ponchet, she fell to Linda Klimovicova 6-3, 6-3. Manon Leonard suffered a heavy defeat, losing 6-2, 6-1 to Panna Udvardy.
As for Tessah Andrianjafitrimo, she put up a strong fight against Jana Fett. However, it wasn't enough, and she lost 6-7, 7-5, 6-4, despite having a break advantage in the final set.
