UTS London: Humbert and Monfils qualify for the semi-finals!

The final weekend of competition at UTS 2024 kicked off yesterday in London.

After the second and penultimate day of the event, we now know the line-ups for the semi-finals to be played on Sunday.

In Group A, Ugo Humbert and Gaël Monfils qualified with a record of two wins and one loss.

Gaël "La Monf" Monfils started the day with a sudden-death victory over Thanasi "Kokki" Kokkinakis (11-12, 11-12, 15-12, 13-8, 3-2).

Despite losing to Ugo "The Commander" Humbert later in the evening (20-11, 17-9, 10-14, 9-13, 2-0), the Parisian will be in the semi-finals tomorrow.

For Humbert, it was Andrey "Rublo" Rublev's defeat of Kokkinakis (15-14, 12-11, 9-15, 11-15, 2-1) that enabled him to reach the last four of the competition.

In the other group, Alex "The Demon" De Minaur quietly advanced to the semi-finals, beating Alexander "The Bublik Enemy" (20-9, 17-12, 13-14, 18-13) and Jan-Lennard "The Thunder" Struff (13-16, 18-11, 19-8, 21-6).

The Australian thus finished the group phase unbeaten.

Finally, Holger "The Viking" Rune secured his ticket to the semi-finals with a straightforward victory over Bublik (21-8, 17-9, 18-12) and then Struff in the night session (15-10, 15-12, 16-11).

Tomorrow's matches will pit Gaël Monfils against Alex De Minaur (from 2.30pm local time) and Ugo Humbert against Holger Rune (not before 3.30pm). The final will then be played at 5pm.
