Van de Zandschulp admits his despair: "I don't know if I'm going to continue my career".

Bottic Van de Zandschulp just can't do it anymore. Ranked 22nd in the world in the summer of 2022, he is no longer even in the top 100. A finalist in Munich in 2023, the Dutchman has never really been able to come to terms with this defeat. Despite not having won a single title in his career, Van de Zandschulp had everything he needed to succeed in Munich last year. He had 4 shots at the title, but finally crashed out, letting Holger Rune walk away with the crown (6-4, 1-6, 7-6).
Since then, the 28-year-old has experienced a crazy lack of results. Since Munich 2023, he has won just 19 of his 49 matches (excluding qualifiers and Challengers).
At Roland Garros, he failed to turn things around. Opposed to the ever-talented Fabio Fognini, he proved surprisingly impotent (6-1, 6-1, 7-5). Questioned in the press conference, the current 104th player in the world was very alarmist, even going so far as to mention a possible early retirement: "This is the worst match of my life. I don't know if I'm going to continue my career. I really doubt it. I'm thinking of quitting. A lot happened last year, including off the court.
I think you have to have fun in everything you do. Of course, everyone has bad days, but when they become too numerous, you have to ask yourself questions."
