On November 13, 2022 in Turin, the audience witnessed one of the first group stage matches between Taylor Fritz and Rafael Nadal.

Coming off an extremely intense season physically, the Spaniard began the "Tournament of Masters" on his last legs and with three consecutive defeats (Tiafoe at the US Open, Sock at the Laver Cup, and Paul at Bercy).

And he felt that momentum against the American: a 7-6, 6-1 defeat in 1 hour and 37 minutes. But while the spectators saw one of their idols suffer a heavy loss, they also experienced a number of high-quality points.

What followed? A fifth consecutive defeat (to Auger-Aliassime, 6-3, 6-4) and then a victory to bow out with his head held high against Ruud (7-5, 7-5).

Finally, even though this Masters, the last played by "Rafa," eluded him throughout his career, he can still boast of having delivered a great number of legendary battles on these indoor courts.
