On Court Philippe-Chatrier, in the middle of the afternoon, Quentin Halys and Holger Rune engaged in a thrilling battle during the third round. The Frenchman started the match strong, taking the first set before the Dane fought back in the second.
More solid in the rallies, Rune nearly sealed the deal late in the set by winning one of the tournament's most spectacular points. On Halys' serve, the world No. 10 executed a perfect counter-drop shot with the help of the net, forcing the Frenchman to scramble and return the ball into a tough spot.
But Rune refused to relent, kept running, and finished the point with a stunning backhand winner that earned a standing ovation from Court Philippe-Chatrier (see video below).
