Video - When Bublik and Fritz Delighted the Chengdu Crowd with Laughter in 2019

ATP tour players are currently in the midst of their Asian tour. Alexander Bublik has just won the ATP 250 tournament in Hangzhou against Valentin Royer, his fourth title of the season, allowing him to lift trophies on all surfaces (Halle, Gstaad, Kitzbühel, and now Hangzhou).

Back in 2019, while competing at the Chengdu tournament, he decided to entertain the spectators along with his opponent, Taylor Fritz. During their first-round match, which had reached the third set, the Kazakh and the American delighted the audience with a point that began with a spoon serve by Bublik.

Between lobs and drop shots, both players had the upper hand at different moments and found themselves at the net, but it was ultimately the current world No. 16 who had the final say (see video below).

The point amused both players, who couldn't help but laugh as they returned to their chairs. In the end, Bublik won the match (4-6, 7-5, 7-5) and went on to reach the final with victories over Jordan Thompson, Grigor Dimitrov, and Lloyd Harris, before losing to Pablo Carreño Busta (6-7, 6-4, 7-6), who claimed the title.

This was the first encounter between Bublik and Fritz. Currently, the two players are tied in their head-to-head record (3-3). The Kazakh had won the first three matches, before the world No. 5 claimed the next three, including the most recent one at last year's Paris Olympics.

I propose the following changes to the rules:

1...a walķover will not be a loss. We have no control of player's health. If he or she is entered in a contest we expect them to play.

2...an incomplete match is not a loss. If a player forfeits we pick another match if there are more to choose.

3...this also applies if TT cancels a match. TT will not take hours to decide an outcome.

How about leavin...

It's a shame that so many matches are being canceled. TT ,you are destroying your game ,and thereby killing your app. I don't know how many matches others have had canceled , but I'm at 3 and it's only thursday.

As a long time player and lover of this game , I don't know how much of this I can tolerate. For example I waited hours last night for you to confirm my win and post my points. Every ot...

This week I have used all my formulas and best guesses to try to achieve the high score jimandlori958 set in our last competition. I am two games short because of cancelations and I need all wins to get there.

Grenier def Ysu 6-2 , 6-2 at Kobe today and the TT canceled the match.

An impressive win.. Congrats to our winner this week, jimandlori958 and with a score that could not be caught or matched. I don't remember a 56 in a while with our group. Nice to see everyone using the 2 point predictions. Can't win without 'em.
