Andy Roddick didn't mince words. In the latest episode of his ultra-popular podcast "Served with Andy Roddick," recorded live from San Francisco during the 2025 Laver Cup, the former world number one delivered an impassioned rant about Carlos Alcaraz.
Criticized for his somewhat subdued performance during this edition dominated by Team World, Alcaraz found himself at the center of an unfair debate, according to Roddick.
"Three Grand Slam finals, with two wins. He might have played one of the best matches I've ever seen at Roland-Garros and he won the US Open with impressive form.
Then, he goes home, doesn't play in the Davis Cup, and returns for the Laver Cup. At some point, something has to give. That's why credit must be given to Alcaraz because it would have been easy for him to skip this event. He came and played, even though he was probably somewhat underprepared.
