Video - When left-handers Moutet and Shelton delighted the Bercy crowd in 2024

During the first round of the 2024 Paris Masters 1000, Corentin Moutet, who came through qualifying after victories against Jaume Munar and Jakub Mensik, faced Ben Shelton on Court 1.
This duel between left-handed players turned in favor of the American (6-3, 6-7, 6-3). While serving to stay in the second set, Shelton found himself at 30/15 on his serve when the two players delighted the spectators.
After a good first ball that allowed him to take the initiative in the rally and rush to the net quickly during the point, Moutet made a run forward after a well-struck volley from Shelton and managed to lob him.
After a tweener from the American, the Frenchman finished with a winning volley at the net (see video below). A point that would contribute to Moutet winning the set, but which would not be enough for him to win the match.
Shelton would lose in the next round against Arthur Cazaux, in a series that had seen him play against four French players in a row (Fils and Mpetshi Perricard in Basel, Moutet and Cazaux in Paris). This year, Shelton won his first Masters 1000 in Toronto, while Moutet reached his best ranking (currently World No. 32).
