Videos - Happy birthday Nishikori!
Kei Nishikori celebrates his 35th birthday this Sunday. With a bright future ahead of him, the Japanese has been one of the most consistent and dangerous players in the world's Top 10 for many years.
Finalist at the 2014 US Open and No. 4 in the world on several occasions, Nishikori is capable of reaching the very top, at least when his body lets him.
Slowed down by incessant physical problems, the Japanese slumped in the ATP rankings before finally making a comeback that was as unexpected as it was promising.
Ranked 581st in the world at the end of July, he ended the year ranked 106th in the world, even winning a title on the secondary circuit in Helsinki.
Known for his outstanding court coverage and efficient returns, Nishikori will be looking to continue his revival by taking part in the ATP 250 in Hong Kong, where he has received an invitation.
To mark the occasion, the Shanghai tournament posted a short video to mark the former world No. 4's birthday. The archive shows Nick Kyrgios challenging his own serve to avoid a successful return from Nishikori (see video below).
