Buoyed by a rediscovered quality of serve and extremely aggressive baseline tennis, he took advantage of his opponent's instability to score his finest victory of the season.

Now resurrected, he will be aiming for a second consecutive triumph in the semi-finals, where he will face Tommy Paul, ranked 13th on the ATP rankings.
