"We are heading in the right direction," says Shelton on the chances of an American winning a Grand Slam
In an interview with Front Office Sport, Ben Shelton discussed the chances of an American player winning a Grand Slam soon.
According to him, he and his compatriots are making steady progress: "I think we are heading in the right direction. Having a strong concentration of players at the top of the rankings is important. And it's inevitable; it will simply happen. And we are gradually getting there.
"It will eventually happen"
It's a question we are asked almost every week, even every month, in the media. I cannot say exactly when it will happen, but I know we are on the right track.
We now have two players in the Top 10, which hasn't happened in a long time, and many promising young talents are capable of doing the same.
So I think that when you have a few confident players at the top, ready to bide their time and take the decisive step to win a Grand Slam tournament, it will eventually happen."
