We can be proud": Corentin Moutet's heartfelt speech after his final defeat in Almaty
Corentin Moutet didn't win the final in Almaty, but his speech left a lasting impression. The Frenchman spoke of sacrifices, family, and pride, paying tribute to all the players on the tour and his opponent Daniil Medvedev.
Beaten for the second time this year in an ATP tournament final, Corentin Moutet can still be proud of his week in Almaty. Before the final against Daniil Medvedev, the Frenchman hadn't dropped a single set along the way.
He delivered a speech filled with sincerity when receiving his runner-up trophy:
"We've been playing a lot since a very young age, we've made many sacrifices. I'm not just talking about myself, but about all the players. We often leave home very young, we leave our families, our friends to be here and pursue our dreams.
We're lucky to be here. On behalf of all the players, we can be proud of ourselves. I feel like I got a bit lost (in my words), but I'm proud of myself, proud of my team, and proud of you Daniil. I hope to come back here. Thank you for your support.
