Daniil Medvedev won the Almaty tournament this Sunday against Corentin Moutet. The Russian hadn't won a title since May 2023 in Rome.

On her social media, Svetlana Kuznetsova shared her thoughts on this victory: "It's wonderful! Daniil really needed this win. And the most interesting thing is that he himself said before the tournament that he wasn't expecting anything special from himself. He was tired, he had taken a flight, he was feeling sick... Mentally, he wasn't at his best.

But, as often happens, when you drop your expectations and don't put pressure on yourself, you play better. The results were better in recent weeks, and now... the title! I'm delighted for him. Good luck for what comes next!
