We need to adopt a shorter format," Pam Shriver questions best-of-five-set matches in Grand Slams
Former world number one in doubles and winner of multiple Grand Slams in the discipline, Pam Shriver does not hesitate to speak out on her social media.
Concerned after Ben Shelton's withdrawal yesterday in the third round of the US Open, Shriver suggested putting an end to best-of-five-set matches in Grand Slams:
"I understand the tradition of men playing best-of-five sets, but given how tennis is played today, with more frequent travel, increasingly extreme heat, and a depth of play that makes early rounds more demanding, we need to adopt a shorter format. I hope Ben and Novak are okay.
