Will Alcaraz miss out against Rublev? He was unable to train on Tuesday due to illness
Carlos Alcaraz has been ill for several days now, suffering from respiratory problems and stomach pains. According to him, this convalescence partly explains his defeat on Monday by Casper Ruud 6-1, 7-5, an opponent he had always beaten.
Despite taking antibiotics, his respiratory problems persist. Alcaraz has therefore cancelled Tuesday's training session in order to rest and give himself a better chance of recovery for his next match, scheduled for Wednesday against Andrey Rublev.
His coach Juan Carlos Ferrero explained: "As soon as he moves a little, it's difficult for him to breathe. His chest is a bit tight. It's the wrong time to get sick. We can't anticipate whether he'll play tomorrow or not.
We've all played in these conditions. I don't think he's at the point where he's wondering whether he'll be on the court. It's going to be difficult for him to be at 100% tomorrow."
