With Rune, it's exciting but unstable": Panichi reveals the inside story of a risky project
In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, renowned fitness trainer Marco Panichi sheds light on his budding collaboration with Holger Rune.
Since his breakthrough on the ATP tour, Holger Rune has fascinated as much as he has raised questions. Early talent, impetuous mentality, inconsistent performances... The young Dane seems at a crossroads. To take the next step, he has surrounded himself with Marco Panichi, former fitness trainer for Sinner and Djokovic.
In an exclusive statement, Panichi summarizes the situation with frankness:
"For me, it's exciting to be part of a new project. With Rune, we've just started. He's a wonderful guy, ready to listen and share. We're still getting to know each other, we've established the first work protocols, but it will be a medium-to-long term journey.
He has obvious talent, but there's much to improve, and it's a long road to becoming a real player. So far, he's won some tournaments, but in the most important ones, he's lost in the early rounds. Consistency will be key. With Holger, we're always on a rollercoaster.
Sometimes there's a lot of excitement about the good things, but there can be a negative rebound. He was always destined for greatness, I also remember that in New York, he won a set against Djokovic in one of his first Grand Slam experiences.
