WTA 1000 Cincinnati: Yastremska Withdraws, Gauff Advances to Round of 16 Without Playing

This Tuesday, Coco Gauff and Dayana Yastremska were set to face off for the third time this season in the third round of the WTA 1000 Cincinnati. The Ukrainian had defeated the American in the first round of Wimbledon several weeks ago but will not be able to repeat this performance against the world No. 2.

Indeed, the WTA No. 31, who is ill, withdrew just hours before stepping onto the court.
Gauff, who had defeated Wang Xinyu in her previous match (6-3, 6-2), now advances to the round of 16 without playing this time and awaits either Jelena Ostapenko or Lucia Bronzetti, who will compete later today, for a spot in the quarterfinals.

As a result of Yastremska's withdrawal, the match between Karolina Muchova and Varvara Gracheva, originally scheduled for Court 3, has been moved to Center Court and will take place after Carlos Alcaraz's match against Hamad Medjedovic.
