WTA 125 in Limoges: Léonard advances to the second round, Lemaitre wins the all-French duel against Dodin
Continuation of the first round of the WTA 125 tournament in Limoges. Three French players were on the courts this Tuesday. Early in the day, Manon Léonard faced the Spanish player Marina Bassols Ribera.
Ranked 192nd in the world, the 24-year-old player is competing in her first tournament since her victory in Cherbourg in mid-October. Léonard does not seem to have lost her rhythm, and she won in two sets (7-5, 6-4 in 1h47). She will face Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva or Anna Siskova for a spot in the quarter-finals.
Lemaitre eliminates Dodin in the first round in Limoges
Following that, the only clash between two French players scheduled for today took place. Tiphanie Lemaitre, who was defeated by Léonard in the final in Cherbourg two months ago, faced Océane Dodin.
The latter, on her comeback trail and who was already present in Angers last week, wanted to keep the momentum going. The world number 818 held her own for one set, but could not sustain it. Thus, Lemaitre wins in two sets (7-5, 6-2) and qualifies for the round of 16. She will face Cristina Bucsa, ranked 54th in the world, in the next round.
