WTA 125 Limoges: Jacquemot Holds Her Ground, Lemaitre Falls Short Against Bucsa
Two French women were on the courts in Limoges this Thursday for the round of 16. As the tournament's number 2 seed, Elsa Jacquemot did not falter.
The French player, ranked 59th in the world, faced Gabriela Knutson. In a match she controlled, the Lyon native saved all four break points she conceded before wrapping it up in two sets (6-3, 6-2 in 1 hour and 14 minutes). She will face Manon Léonard or Anna Siskova for a spot in the semifinals.
No upset for Lemaitre against Bucsa
On the other hand, Tiphanie Lemaitre's run ends in the second round. After her win against Océane Dodin in her opening match, the French player faced Cristina Bucsa, ranked 54th in the WTA and the tournament's main attraction in Haute-Vienne. Fairly quickly, the Spanish player managed to pull away and secure the victory (6-2, 6-2 in 1 hour and 7 minutes). She will face Antonia Ruzic, who qualified at the expense of Linda Klimovicova (6-1, 6-2).
