WTA 125 Limoges: Jacquemot stunning, Rakotomanga Rajaonah beaten by Friedsam
Two French players were in contention in the quarterfinals of the WTA 125 tournament in Limoges. As the number 2 seed, Elsa Jacquemot faced Anna Siskova for the second time in her career.
Nearly three years after their first encounter, the Frenchwoman once again got the better of the Czech player. Despite a poor start, the world number 59 ultimately turned the situation around (3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in 2h08).
No all-French semifinal in Limoges
Jacquemot will face Anna-Lena Friedsam. The German player, who was up against Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah, completely missed the start of the match. But the world number 170, who was a break down and not far from defeat, eventually found the resources to win (1-6, 7-6, 6-1 in 1h51).
The other semifinal will pit Cristina Bucsa against Anhelina Kalinina. The Spanish player crushed Antonia Ruzic (6-1, 6-0), while the Ukrainian put in a strong performance against Alycia Parks, whom she defeated for the third time in as many meetings (7-5, 1-6, 6-3).
