"You have to wait your turn," says Moutet after his loss to Dimitrov at Wimbledon

For the first time in three meetings, Corentin Moutet lost to Grigor Dimitrov. The Frenchman played a strong match but stumbled against the Bulgarian, who seems to be back in full physical form.
After a four-set battle, the world No. 21 ultimately prevailed (7-5, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 in 3h38) and advances to the third round alongside Sebastian Ofner. Following the match, the world No. 69, who recently reached the final in Mallorca, emphasized the need for patience to climb even higher in the rankings.
"It was super tight; I got broken twice in a bit of a silly way. He’s a player who applies a lot of pressure, very aggressive. He varies his game a lot. It came down to small details—a missed forehand, a missed volley.
Unfortunately, today it was me who made those mistakes. I can’t say I was unlucky to lose. I was never ahead. I wasn’t dominant. But it was balanced.
I stayed in the match despite the frustration over those breaks at the end of the sets. Grigor (Dimitrov) can do so many things. What opponents feel against me, I felt against him. There were points I would’ve won against 99% of players, but he manages to pull off an incredible shot, something quite unique.
You have to wait your turn. What matters is the daily work, the mindset we have as a team. We’ve been doing things right since December. The body also needs to hold up; you have to find the balance. We’re on the right path. I can still do better.
Before, I was always injured, and it was hard to find stability. The next level to reach is first about tomorrow. You have to create stability. It’s not about beating a certain player that will give me confidence. It’s about what we do every day," he told *L'Équipe* in recent hours.
