You say you can't play on grass but believe me, you're still very strong," Pegula praises Swiatek after Bad Homburg final
At the microphone following her victory in the Bad Homburg final, Pegula made sure to congratulate her opponent. Usually struggling on grass, Swiatek showed great play this week despite her defeat (6-4, 7-5).
"First, congratulations to Iga and her whole team. You say you can't play on grass, but believe me, you're still very strong on this surface. Be kind to yourself. Good luck next week. We both had a quick turnaround, so I hope it goes well. I wish you all good weeks, good health, and that you don’t miss anything in your lives."
The American then continued by paying tribute to her team after her 9th career title, her 2nd on grass:
"Thank you to my coach, my hitting partner who helps me every day. Once we started winning, we kept going. Thanks also to my husband, who’s waiting for me in London—I can’t wait to see him. Thank you to the tournament, it was a special week, such a great event. I can’t wait to come back.
