Zapata Miralles Opens Up About His Depression: "I Didn’t Want to Fly Anymore and Just Stayed at Home"
Bernabe Zapata Miralles gave an interview to the Spanish media outlet *Punto de Break*.
The 2022 Roland-Garros quarterfinalist spoke about a period of depression he went through.
Depression and mental health are topics increasingly discussed by tennis players over time.
"I didn’t want to fly anymore. I didn’t want to leave my house, I didn’t want to go train. Little by little, I started sinking into depression, but at the time, I wasn’t aware of it."
Fortunately for the Spaniard, he is doing better now and hopes to find his way back to winning, having once been ranked 37th in the world but now outside the Top 300.
"I hope to win many more matches and experience better moments than those I’ve already lived, but for me, this Roland-Garros, where I reached the quarterfinals, will always remain the most special moment.
I came through the qualifiers. It was the culmination of everything I’d been through, and without a doubt, it will be the most special moment of my career."
