Zverev dismisses compatriot Altmaier and advances to quarterfinals in Munich
Zverev had little trouble defeating Altmaier at the ATP 500 tournament in Munich. The Australian Open finalist overcame his fellow German with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
During the match, the world No. 3 won 73% of his first-serve points and converted four out of five break points he created.
The German had previously defeated France’s Alexandre Muller in the previous round and had not reached a tournament quarterfinal since Rio earlier this year (loss to Comesana 4-6, 6-3, 6-4). He also suffered an early exit in Monte-Carlo against Berrettini.
Zverev will face the winner of the match between Griekspoor and Hanfmann.
