Zverev Regains Solid Form and Advances to Quarterfinals in Vienna
More convincing than in the first round, the German player found his rhythm and authority against Arnaldi in Vienna. He thus secured his 50th victory of the season.
For the fifth time in his career, Alexander Zverev will be present in the quarterfinals in Vienna. Despite recurring physical issues in recent weeks, the world No. 3 held his ground this Thursday against Matteo Arnaldi, winning 6-4, 6-4 in 1 hour and 26 minutes.
A more convincing success than his opening match against Jacob Fearnley, where he had closed out the match in a third-set tie-break.
To reach the semifinals, Zverev will now have to get past Tallon Griekspoor, an opponent against whom he leads 8-2 in head-to-head matches. If he wins tomorrow, it would be his first appearance in the semifinals in Austria since his victorious run in 2021.
