So far, there have been no real surprises on the Philippe Chatrier court. In what could be his last match in Paris, Rafael Nadal was unable to find a solution against a very solid Alexander Zverev (6-3 in 46 minutes).

Starting the match with a bang, the world No. 4 didn't give the Spaniard any breathing space. Powerful on serve, efficient on return and incisive behind the line (14 winners, 9 unforced errors, 78% first ball, 2 break points), Zverev seemed determined not to let the king of clay get his hopes up.

For his part, the now 275th-ranked player in the world will have to pull off another career miracle if he is to turn this match around. To be continued...

I propose the following changes to the rules:

1...a walķover will not be a loss. We have no control of player's health. If he or she is entered in a contest we expect them to play.

2...an incomplete match is not a loss. If a player forfeits we pick another match if there are more to choose.

3...this also applies if TT cancels a match. TT will not take hours to decide an outcome.
