I think your generation does count Andre and that you and Pete given same prep, nutrition, sports science and equipment would have very well competed with greats of any era.

I think Safin is wrong here, but also correct in some ways. Sinner and Alc I think have reached amazing heights and will get better and so will ultimately be roughly on a level of the big 3. However I do agree the step down to others compared to the 90s and much of the 2000s and 2010s is way below what it is now. Safin and Nalbandian let the early Fed era down a bit really, as they both had the talent, but for different reasons (temper/lack of commitment)

Never say never. What if Sinner had suffered an injury or the heat took him out early. Djokovic owns Zverev and would have probably beaten him easily. And had his 25th. Look at the ranking of the finalist on the women's side. Bartoli won W one year when at the beginning of the tournament she wasn't even in the discussion of who would take the trophy. Never say never.
