Aladdin, the point i was making re. The coach firing is that that was the worst possible moment to end involvement with a coach. You absolutely need continuity after a big and unexpected win. I dont see her coming back from this now, not for 2 years say.

Feel sorry for Emma 🇬🇧, she had to retire, didn't see match due to time difference, such a long match for someone so young, after all some men's 5 set matches are over quicker than that 😢

Her coach said at the time, there weren't any sour grapes about losing his job, as he had a family to look forward to spending his time with & couldn't do so while travelling the full time WTA circuit.

Emma did beat Bencic and Sakkari in New York, but at what level were they playing in that tournament

It's a tough tour and she's not good enough to compete right now. She'll remain rusty if she keeps losing first or second round. It's sadly probably time she starts looking at opportunities on the ITF circuit

Yeah Emma is not physically fit to handle a match of this level

Hard to believe the current US Open champion cannot put away a player who essential has not played for 2 years.



Too many distractions or was that win in NY a once in a lifetime miracle in sport. She probably would not have won had Ash Barty competed.

Time isn't going to fix it. She can't adjust to the tour when everyone is gunning after her and she has these 1st or 2nd round losses. Even if she does adjust we have never seen her beat top 10 players like Fernandez did so what her capabilities are we don't know

It feels like Emma played so well at two tournaments in 2021,and they happen to have been Slans, so she earned a stack of points, projecting her into a place she's really not ready for. I love her to bits, and I was in tears like most Brit fans after New York, but she's now at 13 in the world, when in reality she's more suited to being 113. I'm sure it will come, but it's sad to see right now. I turned it off after set 2 because it was a really awful match to watch, with most points being lost rather than won, so few quality moments. If Em is having to fight like this against a very match rusty Saville, she's gonna get eaten alive in Indian Wells. Sorry, but that's my personal opinion.

Even if emma wins this match it is not a good sign. She is constantly playing this long 3 setters. Everyone is coming for her. It is a cruel and rude reality. Too fast too soon was winning the us open
