Satisfied, Djokovic wants more: "I want to believe I can go for gold".

Satisfied, Djokovic wants more: I want to believe I can go for gold.

Novak Djokovic has already succeeded in the first part of his gamble.

Having qualified for the Olympic final, the Serb is already guaranteed to bring home a medal for Serbia, and will even be playing in the first Olympic final of his career.

While he will be seeking revenge on Carlos Alcaraz, who dominated him in the Wimbledon final a few weeks ago (6-2, 6-2, 7-6), the world number 2 explained to the press that he had little to lose, since the medal is assured.

That said, Djokovic being the champion that he is, he obviously wants to go for gold: "It's true that we're on a different surface, I feel that this week I'm moving a lot better than I did at Wimbledon, I also feel a lot better.

I can only hope that on Sunday, when I take to the court, I'll have the chance to show my best tennis. In a way, in this final, I've got nothing to lose, because the medal is already assured.

It's true that I still want to go out there and believe that I can go for gold."

I may have my favorites, but those come and go, so above everything, I'm a fan of the sport and always looking for a good match, so for that reason I hope both players are feeling well for the final, in spite of having a favorite.

Now, speaking about the GOAT, Djokovic has undoubtedly the best record of them all, but has always been a controversial figure because of his behavior and antics (3 warnings in his last match), and he sort of proved the last injury was fake, or at least exaggerated. Today, he said this week he had been feeling and moving better, with no mention whatsoever of the statement the day before of doubts of even playing the semifinal because of injury. This is typical Nole, and IMHO, one of the reasons he is disliked by so many tennis fans. In the past he has complained of not getting the "respect" Rafa and Roger gets/got even now that he has beaten their records; he still doesn't seem to understand that respect is earned with attitude, not titles.

CaciCors - Novak is extremely popular among tennis fans all over the world, he is not only loved by those who see a problem in literally everything he does, but that problem is actually only in their heads (like the illusion that Novak is not popular).
