Sinner: "Darren Cahill is like a second father to me"

Sinner: Darren Cahill is like a second father to me

With powerful words, Jannik Sinner recently spoke about Darren Cahill, his coach, in an interview with Sky Sport.

"He's kind of like a second dad to me. In crucial moments, Darren is fundamental, especially mentally. He knows all the scenarios inside out, on and off the court. I talk a lot with him about what I'm feeling and what's important to me.

He's definitely a key person for the whole team. He and Simone Vagnozzi are different, but the combination of the two is incredible: so I'm very happy to have them."

For reference, Darren Cahill (Australian) was a former professional player: world No. 22 at his best. Now a coach, he coached Lleyton Hewitt (1993-2001) and Agassi (2002-2006) among others, before collaborating with Sinner starting in June 2022.

Cahill comes across as a genuinely nice person. Grounded and realistic. Plenty of common sense. If one listens to his commentary, his analysis of tennis is consistently more concise and precise than most others. And he's one of the few announcers that never says anything about the way to hit a tennis ball that defies the laws of physics.
Sinner is very lucky to have him as a coach.

Think he also coached Halep, while she was no. 1 IIRC. Top coach.
