Djokovic Defeats Ugo Carabelli and Surpasses Nadal in Number of Masters 1000 Wins
Without much surprise, Novak Djokovic qualified this Sunday for the round of 16 of the Miami Masters 1000 after defeating Camilo Ugo Carabelli (6-1, 7-6).
The match was almost identical to his opening match against Hijikata, with a flawless first set, before committing more errors in the second and ultimately raising his level in the tiebreak.
Without necessarily playing at his best level (18 winners for 20 unforced errors today), Djokovic will compete for a spot in the tournament's quarterfinals against Lorenzo Musetti.
In the process, he becomes the record holder for most Masters 1000 match wins (511), surpassing the mark previously held by Rafael Nadal (510).
