Djokovic booed again, or "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named".

Le 10/07/2024 à 19h37 par Guillaume Nonque
Djokovic booed again, or He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.

It seems that some Wimbledon spectators didn't really appreciate the little lesson in good behavior that Novak Djokovic tried to give them at the end of his Round of 16 match against Holger Rune. The Serb didn't appreciate the "Ruuuuunnnee" cheers for Holger Rune, which he felt sounded too much like booing at times.

As a result, the "boos" followed the world no. 2 into Wednesday's quarter-final match between Lorenzo Musetti and Taylor Fritz. When the announcer on Court n°1 called out Djokovic's name to ask the Italian about his semi-final match, some of the spectators started booing again.

This should please the seven-time tournament winner greatly. And perhaps even give him a little extra motivation, as he seems to have such a capacity to sublimate himself in the face of adversity.

Djokovic (Monday evening): "To all those people who have chosen to be disrespectful to players, and in this case to me, I wish you a 'gooooood niiiight'. Goooood niight, goooood niight, a very good night.

That was disrespectful, I don't accept Rune's explanation of encouragement. No, no, no. I know they were rooting for Rune but that's an excuse to go 'boo' too. I've been on the ATP Tour for over 20 years, so believe me, I know the tricks. I know how it works. [...]

I've played in much more hostile environments, trust me, you can't touch me."

How many times over the years has Novak been booed? It can't be the crowd every time. At some point he may need to look inward...

Oh, you know better then that. As always, haters hate (and find imaginary reasons for that)

You live in a world where in every movie the bad guys are always Russian and Serbian guys. The hate starts from nowhere and you all hate people from those countries not knowing why. Media is a b***h

BTW, ad6771, just yesterday you were making fun that The "crowd" wasn't boooing, but cheering for Ruuuuune.
Was this one actual booo......or just another Ruuuuune?
Maybe Moooooooosetti?

Ad6771, I know that you are a Fed fan, but the last 4 covid years, with all that AO 2022 and non-vaccination saga....bla bla, when all Fedals waited in the line to spit on him, giving the moral lectures how insensitive and irresponsible he is, you were defending him, the same way you are mocking him now in the every TT headline!
What happened?
He's not fighting for your beliefs anymore, or you just found something when you looked inward and you're back to your true Fedal roots?

St Adam- Sorry just now seeing this. I never liked Novak as a player or personality, much the same way I did Lendl. Of course, I respect his accomplishments, he will go down as the undeniable GOAT, based on way more than Grand Slam titles. H2H, 1000s, etc...Amazing career. For me (and others), his dancing, his 4 way acknowledgment to the crowd, the violin he only plays when he wins, etc...has always been cringe. Not just to me but to the people that continue to boo him wherever he goes. I truly appreciated what he went thru on the bulls#t COVID vax. He came out on top, making all those idiots that let hundreds of thousands of people sit next to each other in the stands maskless look like the sheep they were. These are just my opinions and no more important (or less) than anyone else's.

I agree with Novak, booing people for double faulting or missing an easy shot is just bad sportsmanship.

It's really the consistency. When he talked after the Fearnly match, he was great. However, when we have this latest episode, the match time outs, arguing with the crowd, breaking racquets, USO DQ, covid party and visa stuff etc etc. It's kind of 1 step forward, 2 steps back. It makes fans think he may not be genuine, and so his tennis is appreciated, but the guy isn't loved in the same way as others.

I don't really think success itself has a lot to do with how fans ultimately feel about someone, besides the inevitable glory supporters you get in all sports.

He may be the best of the big three
But he will never reach the fan base that Roger and Rafa has.
Try to win people’s hearts Novak
Cocoda
Why would he? He doesnt care for that kind of people

Bogbot, I like the way you play the wise gentlemen on one post then mocking on the other.
The exact same thing is going on here with Djokovic.......HYPOCRISY!

Here are some other non biased thoughts about the same "incident"....
