I would be proud to finish as the French number 1," says Rinderknech
Thanks in particular to his final at the Shanghai Masters 1000 and the 650 points lost by Ugo Humbert for not defending his final at the Rolex Paris Masters, Arthur Rinderknech will likely finish this 2025 season as the French number 1.
Asked about this in a press conference after his defeat to Valentin Vacherot, he said: "It's extremely important. Well, let's not say 'important', but rather that it's a great source of pride for me.
I don't really want to talk about the past, but when you look back five or six months and I consider my tennis with a bit of perspective, mentally speaking, it's a great source of pride and joy.
As for this defeat, I don't want to think about it too much. I don't want this press conference to last forever, but there are a lot of positives, and I'm going to take joy in that. I'm really lucky to have a great team around me.
The Davis Cup is approaching. I was selected by Paulo (Paul-Henri Mathieu), I'm lucky. And I really want to get good results with the team and put France where it should be in the rankings.
Furthermore, on a personal level, I would be proud to finish as the French number 1. If it doesn't happen, it's not a big deal anyway.
