Iga Swiatek has suffered her third 6-0 loss this season
Iga Swiatek had a difficult day: she was defeated in her second match at the WTA Finals by Rybakina.
This Monday in Riyadh, the Polish player lost in three sets (3-6, 6-1, 6-0) to the Kazakh player after 1 hour and 37 minutes of play. Although she had solidly won the first set, the world number two completely collapsed in the last two, suffering yet another 6-0.
With this "bagel" conceded in the decisive set, the 24-year-old champion has become the first player since Flavia Pennetta in 2013 to lose three matches by a 6-0 scoreline in the final set in a single year.
Indeed, before this duel against the world number 6, Swiatek had lost 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 against Navarro in the Beijing round of 16, and 7-6, 4-6, 6-0 against Sabalenka in the Roland-Garros semi-final.
