Swiatek on her defeat against Rybakina: "I need to rewatch the match to understand"
Beaten in three sets by Elena Rybakina with a rather surprising score (3-6, 6-1, 6-0), Iga Swiatek showed two very different faces on the court in Riyadh.
After an ideal start, the Polish player completely collapsed in the last two sets. She briefly discussed this setback with the media:
"Rybakina was more aggressive and more solid in the rallies. I need to rewatch the match, analyze it to understand (this result)."
For her part, Rybakina expressed her satisfaction after this stunning victory, which ended a streak of four consecutive defeats against the world number 2:
"It's always difficult to play against Iga, she always brings enormous intensity. In the second set, I pulled myself together, I served better and I'm happy I managed to play better. Despite losing the first set, I stayed focused and aggressive."
On Wednesday, Swiatek must absolutely win against Amanda Anisimova to qualify for the semi-finals, while Rybakina will return to the court for a match with no stakes against Madison Keys.
