I was looking at my nails": The surreal response given by Medvedev after his middle finger gesture at Paris-Bercy in 2023

I was looking at my nails: The surreal response given by Medvedev after his middle finger gesture at Paris-Bercy in 2023

The Bercy crowd had not escaped the volcanic temper of Daniil Medvedev during the 2023 edition of the Rolex Paris Masters. Frustrated after his loss to Dimitrov, the Russian reacted in his own way: a controversial gesture, followed by a response full of sarcasm.

In 2023, Daniil Medvedev left the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000 with a certain amount of frustration, eliminated in the second round by Grigor Dimitrov after nearly three hours of a grueling battle (6-3, 6-7, 7-6).

Annoyed by the crowd throughout the match, the Russian left the court by giving spectators the middle finger (see video below).

When asked about this gesture in the press conference, the former world No. 1 replied with irony:

"No, I didn't do it. I was simply looking at my nails, nothing more. Why would I do that to this wonderful Paris-Bercy crowd?
