Rinderknech Finally Present in Basel: The Frenchman Enters the Main Draw

Arthur Rinderknech is set to compete in his first tournament since his surprising run to the final at the Shanghai Masters 1000 in the coming days.

Rinderknech has just concluded the wildest tournament of his career so far. Ranked outside the top 50 before arriving in Shanghai, the Frenchman defied expectations by defeating Michelsen, Zverev, Lehecka, Auger-Aliassime, and Medvedev, before falling in the final to his cousin Valentin Vacherot.

Following his performance in the Chinese city, the now world No. 28 wanted to adjust his schedule to be ready for the Paris Masters 1000. Initially scheduled to play in the qualifying rounds for the ATP 500 tournament in Basel, the 30-year-old Rinderknech ultimately decided to withdraw his entry, which allowed him to become one of the alternates.

In recent hours, a spot opened up in the draw, enabling the Frenchman to enter the main draw directly, just hours before the draw ceremony. For now, Arthur Fils is the only initially registered player confirmed not to participate in the tournament. The world No. 31, still suffering from a back injury, has withdrawn.
