Corentin Moutet will not see the final four in Vienna. Having won six of his last seven matches, the Frenchman took on Lorenzo Musetti in the quarterfinals.
Moutet gave it his all against the tournament's No. 4 seed, but he was defeated in two sets 6-3, 6-4. He can now turn his attention to the Paris Masters 1000, where a qualifier awaits him in the first round.
As for Musetti, he completes a dream semifinal lineup in Austria, as the top four seeds are all still in the draw. He will face Alexander Zverev, the world No. 3, in an attempt to reach the final of the tournament.
This victory also brings him closer to a first-time qualification for the ATP Finals, as he now holds nearly a 600-point lead over Félix Auger-Aliassime in the Race.
