Djokovic in a French national team jersey? The crazy image from 2006 in Metz!

It was October 8, 2006, in the Palais des Sports of Metz. A 19-year-old kid had just beaten Jurgen Melzer to claim his second ATP trophy.

The Metz audience didn't know it yet, but they were witnessing the birth of a giant. Novak Djokovic, 19 years old, was playing the final of the Metz tournament against the Austrian Jurgen Melzer. The score? 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. And for the second time after Amersfoort, the Serb lifted an ATP 250 trophy.

But that's not all, as an unusual scene marked the end of the event: during the award ceremony, Djokovic lifted the cup wearing a blue French national team jersey!
