"He gave me a hard time": Djokovic dismisses Borges and advances to semifinals in Athens
Still as relentless as ever, Novak Djokovic notched another solid victory in Athens. After defeating Nuno Borges, the Serb is now just two wins away from a 101st career title.
Novak Djokovic is calmly continuing his journey in Athens. Facing Nuno Borges in the quarterfinals this Thursday, the former world No. 1 had to make the difference in a first-set tie-break, before securing a break in the middle of the second set to wrap up the match.
He won 7-6, 6-4 in 1 hour and 42 minutes, also securing the 200th indoor victory of his career. Djokovic delivered a strong serving performance with 9 aces and an 86% win rate on his first serve points.
"I was very surprised by Nuno's level and the way he played. He gave me a hard time," he stated on court after his victory.
While his participation in the Turin Masters remains uncertain, the Serb will play for his spot in the final tomorrow against either Yannick Hanfmann or Marcos Giron.
