Pliskova ends her season after two tournaments: Czech player wants to rest her ankle

Former world number one Karolina Pliskova had made her comeback in September after a year's absence.
Pliskova had seen light at the end of the tunnel. Injured in her ankle during the first game of her match against Jasmine Paolini in the second round of the 2024 US Open, the Czech player was subsequently absent from the WTA tour for a year.
However, the former world number one had made her return in September to play two tournaments on the Challenger Circuit, first in Caldas da Rainha and then in Samsun. After defeating Tessah Andrianjafitrimo (6-1, 4-6, 7-5), she then lost in the following round in Portugal to Polina Iatcenko (5-7, 6-4, 6-4).
In Turkey, she lost in her opening match against Lina Gjorcheska (6-4, 6-3). On her social media, the 33-year-old player announced in recent hours that she is ending her season after playing only two tournaments.
"It feels so good to be competing again, but this year has been tough overall and my body still needs time to adapt. That's all for this year 2025, see you next season. Thank you so much for all the love and support," Pliskova wrote on her Instagram account.
