Season over for Todoni: Romanian undergoes shoulder surgery
World No. 119, Anca Todoni, has been forced to end her season earlier than expected.
In 2025, Todoni achieved the best ranking of her career. The Romanian reached a career-high of 83rd, but has been unable to play any matches since September 9th and a first-round victory at the WTA 125 tournament in San Sebastian against Dalila Spiteri (1-6, 6-3, 6-2).
Subsequently, she withdrew before her next match against Lola Radivojevic. On her social media, the 21-year-old player announced that she has undergone surgery on her right shoulder.
"Some of you already know, but I had to end my season earlier than expected due to persistent shoulder pain. After consulting with specialists, it became clear that surgery was the only option to allow me to recover properly and continue my journey in this sport that I love.
This is not the ending I imagined for this season, but I have decided to see it as a new beginning. I am committed to coming back even stronger and more motivated than ever. Thank you to all the people who have supported me on this journey.
To my teammates and coaches, thank you for believing in me and continuing to help me grow on and off the court. To my family, thank you for your encouragement, patience, and unlimited love during these difficult times.
And to my friends and everyone who has sent me supportive messages, your words mean a lot and help me stay positive. 2025, you haven't been the best year for me, but thank you for the lessons. See you in 2026," Todoni wrote on her Instagram account.
