Romania Officially Eliminated from the 2025 BJK Cup

With the previous day’s result, which saw Canada comfortably defeat Romania (3-0), the equation was straightforward for the European team. Against Japan, they absolutely needed a 3-0 victory to avoid seeing their qualification chances slip away entirely before the start of the third day.
But things did not go as planned for Romania. After Ena Shibahara’s win over Miriam Bulgaru (7-5, 6-2), Romania was officially eliminated in the first match of this second group encounter, even before the end of their tie against Japan.
Romania becomes the fifth country to be out of contention for reaching the Final 8. Brazil, Germany, Australia, and Colombia had already lost all chances of qualifying before them.
Only Australia managed to secure a win among these nations, but the Oceanian team’s loss to Kazakhstan in Brisbane proved fatal for Kimberly Birrell and Maya Joint’s teammates.
