"I'm very disappointed with my level," Alcaraz reacts to his second-round exit at the Paris Masters 1000

I'm very disappointed with my level, Alcaraz reacts to his second-round exit at the Paris Masters 1000

Carlos Alcaraz lost in his opening match in Paris, jeopardizing his world No. 1 ranking, which Jannik Sinner could reclaim if he wins the title on Sunday.

Upset in Paris: Alcaraz fell as early as the second round of the Paris Masters 1000. On Tuesday evening, the world No. 1 was overturned by a very solid Cameron Norrie (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) and will not feature in the round of 16.

This defeat has consequences for the Spaniard, who will lose his top spot in the ATP rankings to Jannik Sinner if the Italian leaves with the trophy this Sunday. In any case, a disappointed Alcaraz faced the press conference after his loss to the Briton, a match in which he committed 54 unforced errors.

"I don't know how to explain my lack of feeling in this match. I trained a lot here, I felt really good, I was moving well and hitting the ball well. I had clear ideas.

But today, even in the first set that I won, I felt that I could do much better than what I was doing. I tried to be better in the second set, but the complete opposite happened.

My level only deteriorated. I also have to give Cam (Norrie) the credit he deserves, because he didn't let me get back into the match. I had a few break points, which could have helped me get back, but I couldn't convert them because I made too many errors.

I'm very disappointed with my level, it was one of my worst matches of the season, that's all. I will try to prepare as best as possible for the end of the season.
The upcoming tournaments will be very important for me, whether it's the ATP Finals or the Davis Cup.

But now, I just want to go home, and we'll see what I do. I will train and prepare, and I will do everything so that these kinds of defeats don't happen again in the future," Alcaraz stated after his defeat to The Tennis Letter.
