Djokovic, Rybakina, Tien: An Update on the ATP and WTA Rankings
The weekend was packed with results from the finals in Metz and Athens, not to mention the WTA Finals. A good opportunity for an update on the ATP and WTA rankings.
Ahead of his first match against de Minaur (2:00 PM French time), Carlos Alcaraz (11,050 points) will begin the ATP Finals in Turin as the world number one, a status he had lost a week earlier to Jannik Sinner (10,000 points) but which he could lose again in case of a major disappointment in Turin (he must win at least three matches or see Sinner fail to win the trophy).
Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic, 38, continues to defy time. His title in Athens allows him to climb back to 4th place in the world (4,830 points), just behind Alexander Zverev (4,960 points). The Serbian, already a 24-time Grand Slam champion, proves once again his exceptional longevity.
But that's not all, as the great story of the week is American with Learner Tien. At just 19 years old, the talented left-hander won the French ATP 250, claiming the first title of his young career. The result: an entry into the Top 30 (world number 28).
Finally, on the women's side, Aryna Sabalenka finishes her second consecutive year at the top of the world rankings with 10,870 points, well ahead of Iga Swiatek (8,395). But the pleasant surprise comes from the return of Elena Rybakina, winner of the WTA Finals in Riyadh, who climbs to 5th place in the world (5,850).
