A first tournament after his Shanghai title: Vacherot receives a wild card in Basel

Surprise winner of the Shanghai Masters 1000, Valentin Vacherot will compete in the ATP 500 tournament in Basel next week.
Last weekend, Valentin Vacherot delivered an XXL performance by becoming the first player ranked beyond the top 200 to win a Masters 1000, all while coming through the qualifying rounds.
The 26-year-old Monegasque defeated his cousin Arthur Rinderknech in the final (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) and entered the top 100 directly at the 40th position. Following this sudden change in status, Vacherot, who was supposed to participate in the Shenzhen Challenger this week, ultimately withdrew.
Vacherot will now rest this week before returning to the ATP tour in the coming days. Indeed, he has been invited by the organizers of the Basel tournament and will compete in the very first ATP 500 of his career.
A wild card that may not be the only one at the end of this season, as the Monegasque has also applied for a wild card to participate in the Paris Masters 1000 at the end of October.
