16th Consecutive Win for Coric, Who Joins Wawrinka at the Naples Challenger
Borna Coric shows no signs of stopping. The Croatian player, who has already won three Challengers since late February in Lugano, Thionville, and Zadar, decided to drop down a level to regain his confidence and is also competing in Naples this week.
Fresh off his victory in Zadar against Valentin Royer on home soil, Coric faced another French player in the first round in the Italian city, Harold Mayot. Continuing his recent form, the world No. 112 secured a straight-sets win (6-4, 6-2), marking his 16th consecutive victory.
Undefeated since his first-round loss at the Montpellier tournament against Constant Lestienne in late January, Coric will face a major test in his next match as he takes on Stan Wawrinka. The Swiss player qualified earlier in the day against another Croatian, Borna Gojo (6-2, 6-3), who came through the qualifiers.
This latest convincing win ensures Coric will return to the ATP top 100 next Monday, regardless of his performance in Naples this week.
