Gasquet and Wawrinka Receive Wild Cards for the Bucharest Tournament

Next week, after the conclusion of the Miami Masters 1000, the long clay-court season begins. From March 31 to April 6, Bucharest will host its annual tournament, and some big names will be present in the Romanian capital this year.
Stan Wawrinka will be one of the headliners of the 2025 edition. The Swiss champion, a three-time Grand Slam winner, has received a wild card to enter the main draw directly. The tournament's official website is thrilled to welcome the player, who will celebrate his 40th birthday on March 28.
"Stan Wawrinka is one of the most accomplished players of his generation and holds a wild card for this year's edition. Throughout his career, Wawrinka has won 16 ATP titles, standing out with his powerful baseline game and a one-handed backhand considered one of the most spectacular on the tour," reads an article on the website.
Another player appearing in Bucharest this year is Richard Gasquet. The Frenchman, who is enjoying his final months on the tour before retiring at Roland-Garros, recently learned that he will participate in the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000.
To best prepare for the Monaco event, the Biterrois has decided to compete in the Bucharest tournament, where he has also been invited by the organizers.
Among the other participants are Sebastian Baez, Roberto Bautista Agut, local player Filip Cristian Jianu, and Marton Fucsovics, the defending champion after his victory last year against Mariano Navone. The main draw is expected to take place at the end of the week in Romania.
