"3 or 5 sets in Grand Slams?" Draper shares his opinion
In an interview reported by Tennis World Italia, Jack Draper addressed the debate currently stirring the tennis circuit. While many have expressed support for switching Grand Slam matches to best-of-three sets, the British player took a different stance:
"My personal opinion is that Grand Slam tournaments are fantastic because they are played as best-of-five sets. It’s part of the prestige of a Major—it’s almost a different sport. That’s why winning one is so incredible.
It’s the ultimate challenge for a tennis player. Recently, I’ve realized just how amazing it is to compete in them: it’s the greatest challenge there is."
For the world No. 4, the debate is settled. It’s worth noting that the men’s circuit isn’t the only one affected by this discussion, as some female players have also raised the idea of extending matches to best-of-five sets.
