6-1, 6-0 in 49 minutes: Osaka Dominates Sevastova in Montreal Round of 16
Naomi Osaka wasted no time on center court at the WTA 1000 in Montreal.
In strong form since the start of the tournament, the four-time Grand Slam champion delivered a masterclass against Anastasija Sevastova, who had upset Jessica Pegula in the third round.
The Latvian quickly came crashing down to earth and was never in contention during this round of 16 match, suffering a crushing 6-1, 6-0 defeat in just 49 minutes. She managed only one winner across both sets, compared to Osaka’s 13.
This was undoubtedly the quickest match of the 2025 Canadian Open. Returning to the quarterfinals of the event six years later, Osaka will face either Amanda Anisimova or Elina Svitolina.
